Enjoyed great company at the Urban Solace 2nd anniversary party and media tasting this week. Candice Woo (smart and savvy food writer for SD Citybeat) is always a nice table companion, as was Tovin from sigononsandiego. 4 Courses were paied with Palmina wines (pictured below; apparently, the Obama Administration commissioned the winery to create a signature set of their Italian varietals for the administration to take as a gift on official G8 business in Euopre/Italy) -- dessert of chocolate ganache cake, thick cream, pistacios and pommegranites was divine. Other highlights: Chef Gordon challeneged his guests to guess all of the 22 ingredients in his melt-in-your-mouth beef shank dish (food writers from Coast News and Riviera and Ranch & Coast won), and we were all asked to throw out potential names for the group's second restaurant, soon to open in Encinitas.
